Award:

This book received the Third Place Award in The Book Fest for its engaging portrayal of nature’s wonders, captivating readers of all ages.
About the book:
As an educator in an urban area, I have frequently encountered females who have experienced abuse and neglect. There are many similarities in their stories: they were not believed when they first came forward, they did not get justice, and their lives were forever impacted by the experience.
I wrote The Life of the Honey Bee because it’s important to share stories that highlight survival to teach and inspire the next generation.
Additionally, I wrote the story to show how generational curses and burdens can hinder and stifle people from growing and thriving in society.

The Life of the Honey Bee
Award:

Winner of the Third Place Award in The Book Fest The Kid Chronicles has been celebrated for its impactful storytelling and authentic portrayal of youth experiences.
About the book:
The Kid Chronicles is an anthology of short stories embedded in a novel. I wrote the book this way for a few reasons. First, I incorporated the short stories to entertain the reader while highlighting social issues. Each short story teaches a lesson that is relevant to the life of a pre-teen and teenager living in an urban area.
Secondly, the main story is aimed to heal mother-son relationships that have been fractured by the stress and strain of the son’s misbehavior at school. Some urban schools are plagued with behavior problems that interfere with the learning process, and many educators and parents struggle with finding ways to address undesirable behavioral patterns at school.
The main story shows how a mother and son can maintain a healthy relationship or recharge the relationship after a setback. Mothers learn to support boys in making healthy choices at school.

The Life of the Honey Bee
Award:

This powerful book has been recognized with three awards: Second Place, Third Place, and an Honorable Mention for its impactful storytelling.
About the book:
In this romantic thriller, KD Daniels is in prime mental, physical, and spiritual health. She has actively done the work to heal from her tumultuous divorce five years ago. The mother of two is out enjoying a morning jog when she makes the acquaintance of John King, a successful, handsome Detroit businessman and loving father of six. John’s feelings for and encounters with KD are unlike any John has experienced before. John documents their love story on his social media pages. John is firmly committed to the relationship and he does the work to show KD how he feels. John exceeds all KD’s expectations with his charming manners and romantic efforts. KD can’t resist falling in love with him despite being apprehensive about John’s history with women. John puts forth a massive effort to bond with KD’s children because he knows how important they are to her. John’s efforts result in KD’s children loving John just as much as she does. John brags about her children and professes his admiration for them on social media. The public displays of John’s affection toward KD and her children create private torture for a secret admirer. While John works hard to cement his relationship with KD, an enraged stalker works just as hard to put an end to the relationship permanently. Despite the extreme antics of their stalker, John and KD fight through every obstacle and calculated distraction to stay together. For John and KD, the relationship and the bond they have is well worth weathering the storm. Eventually, KD and John come face-to-face in an explosive confrontation with the person who has terrorized and stalked them for almost a year.
